To get preapproved, you’ll need to provide your mortgage loan originator with several documents that verify who you are including cash, credit, debts, and credit report. Checklist of Documents Needed for Preapproval
Two Forms Of Identification
- Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or passport)
- Social Security card
Proof of Income
- Recent pay stubs (last 30 days)
- Most recent 2 years W-2.
- Awards letters or any other additional income (bonuses, alimony, etc.)
Self-Employed Borrowers Documents
- Last 2 years of personal and business tax returns
- Year to Date Profit & Loss Statement for all businesses
Employment Contact Information
- Contact information for your current employer and previous employers for the past 2 years
Proof of Assets
- Most recent 2 Months’ Bank statements (all pages)
- Most recent Investment account statements (stocks, bonds, etc.)
- Retirement account statements (401(k), IRA, etc.)
Debt Information
- List of all current debts (credit card, loans, etc.)
