According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.79 square miles (15.0 km2).
At the 2010 census, there were 37,573 people, 13,338 households and 8,704 families residing in the city. The population density was 6,487.1 per square mile (2,506.54/km²). There were 17,249 housing units at an average density of 2,979.1 per square mile (7,715.83/km²). The racial makeup of the city [4] was 67% White (40.8% were Non-Hispanic White), 17% African American, 0.7% Native American, 3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 3.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 38.3% of the population.
